Spoiler warning! If you’ve not seen Chapter 11 of The Mandalorian yet, stop reading now, and go watch it.

In Chapter 11, “The Heiress”, Din Djarin travels to Trask, to bring “Frog Lady” together with her husband (who is called “Frog Man” for now). We still don’t know which species they are, but the male is a slightly larger blue-skinned variant (Mando sp. #10).

We also get a look at their offspring this week, when one of the eggs hatches and a tadpole emerges. The tadpole grows quite quickly, and is later seen in a bowl, where the Frog Lady teaches Baby Yoda to be gentle (and not eat it!).

Trask itself is an oceanic planet home to a fishing colony inhabited by mostly Mon Calamari and Quarren. The Mon Calamari is new for the show, and seen here in various shades of red. Take note of the traditional fisherman’s wear, including the knitted sweaters.

And as I said, numerous Quarren mill about on the planet as well, including a few “brothers” (not sure if they are actually brothers, or just comrades). The Quarren have tentacles that are animated, which adds an interesting touch and makes them feel more “real”. The hands are still the same as the prequels (and thus ignoring the suction cupped fingers from Episode VI).

Also seen in the background of the “streets” of Trask are two unnamed aliens, one from Solo (Solo sp. #11) and one from Episode VII (TFA sp. 16).

The Mon Calamari and Quarren seem right at home on this waterworld, where plenty of fish is to be found. We see some of this fish in a net on the trawler of the Quarren that try to attack the Mandalorian. They are a bit hard to see, but the bulging eyes make me think these are “alien fish” rather than an actual real-life species.

Trask is also home to several squid-like species it seems. One of them is the Mamacore, a giant baby-eating monster kept in one of the Quarren fishing trawlers. We only see it’s mouth in the series thought. Reminds me a bit of a Sarlacc.

A smaller species is seen in Baby Yoda’s soup, and this one is a bit of a face hugger (we all expected a moment like this with the spider eggs last week, didn’t we?).

A third squid-like species is seen in the final scene, where a stow-away is the third one to try and eat Baby Yoda (is this karma?). This may be the same species as the Mamacore, but we cannot be sure at this moment. Bring on the Visual Guide already! Cool to see a shot as seen from it’s eyes, though.

I can’t wait until next week Friday!
