Yesterday we saw the launch of a new commercial for Denny’s, which now features a special menu based on the Solo movie, and twelve collectible cards. In the commercial, we see a re-enactment of a Sabacc game between Han Solo and Lando Calrissian, which takes place in the actual set used for the movie Solo, scheduled to release in less than two months from now. If you’ve not seen the commercial, head on over to Youtube!

For those of you who have seen it, you will probably already have read or seen some info about the aliens featured in the commercial, which are aliens that we will see again in the actual movie. So while the following might not been new, I just wanted to put my two cents in.

Dennys1

First up we got this cute looking furry being, he seems to be quite well received. Out of this bunch, it’s certainly my favorite. While he’s been compared to a space-bunny here and there, to me his face looks much more like a sloth, but with four ears.

Dennys2

The reptilian or amphibian (or maybe even avian) guy who’s the lead singer in the little cantina band (also featuring a keyboardist and guitarist, both human), seems to have had some lessons in throat-singing, a form of chanting you may know from the Mongolian or Tibetan cultures on our own Earth. His instrument also looks very cool.

Dennys3

Chomping away on his green space-noodles is a big lobster-looking fellow by the name of Therm Scissorpunch. Must be the silliest seafood reference since the Mon Calamari. For those of you who are unaware, there’s a dish called “Lobster Thermidor“. The name comes from one of the Denny’s cards.

Dennys4

This guy looks vaguely familiar, but that may just be because he reminds me a lot of a goat, with his horns and all. Guess that after the centaurs (the Chironians) and the fauns (Valenthyne Farfalla’s species) we now have some more Narnian beings in Star Wars.

Dennys5

The guy to have a winning hand (my guess, it’s not a language I’m familiar with) looks like he’s been based of a sawfish, although I’ve seen the name Vulptereen being brought up. For me, he’s got too many differences with Vulptereens, so I wouldn’t mind if it turns out to be not the case. His teeth seem to move, but in a later shot we see he actually has teeth sticking out from both his upper and his lower jaw.

Dennys6

The two-headed alien was already seen in one of the images released earlier. Definitely the most “alien” of the bunch. Not the first time we’ve seen a two-headed species before though, with the Yuvernians in Return of the Jedi, the Troig in The Phantom Menace, and species like the Dyclops and the Cha’wen’he from the Expanded Universe.

Dennys7

Last up is Argus “Six Eyes” Panox, who has, as his name already suggests, six eyes (name again from one of the collectible cards at Denny’s). We’ve seen him before, going as far back as a leaked set photo. At least we know what to call him, other than “the double Gran”.

That’s it for now. Hope we can pin some species names on these guys (or gals) in the near future!
